School Action Plan
In consultation with school communities (i.e. students, families, staff, school councils etc.), schools use local, board and provincial data to create goals and identify specific actions and strategies to achieve those goals. School Action Plans (SAPs) are reviewed and monitored regularly by schools in consultation with the respective superintendent of education.
The School Action Plan for Marchmont P.S. for 2019-2020 is as follows:
NUMERACY GOAL
As a result of:
- Regular use of worthwhile/problem solving tasks
- Explicit teaching strategies to develop problem solving skills
- Responsive assessment strategies to identify and respond to student needs
Students will improve their achievement on thinking and problem solving questions.
LITERACY GOAL
As a result of:
- Use of consistent language in teaching reading strategies and writing various texts from K-8
- Explicit teaching strategies of writing structure
- Assessment strategies to identify and respond to student need
- Students will improve their understanding of various texts and their reading comprehension strategies.
WELL-BEING GOAL
As a result of:
- Adopting self-regulation strategies in all classrooms
- Implementing the BASE model for all students
Students will improve their ability to self-regulate with a greater variety of strategies to handle stressful situations.
Board Strategic Priorities
Student achievement and well-being is a priority for the Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB). In 2017 that commitment was renewed when the Board of Trustees approved four strategic priorities to guide the SCDSB from 2017-2022. The priorities are:
